For the Role of JAMAL, we’re currently looking for male Serbian actors, 18-22 years old, who are fluent in English. Ideally, they should still look relatively young, so they could convincingly pass as 16/17 in flashback scenes.

When Jamal was fifteen, his parents were killed in a terrible incident in Belgrade – or so he was told. With nowhere to go, he was taken in by Marie Richmond and brought into her family home in Brussels, where he lives alongside Jonas, Marie’s husband, and Nate, their eighteen-year-old son. He is part of the family. But he arrived later than the others, and he carries the quiet awareness of that distinction even when no one else does.
At CYRUS – the NGO headed by his foster mother Marie – Jamal has become an unexpected asset. He has a digital native’s instinct for what cuts through noise and the caption that makes people care. He’s impatient with institutional caution and quietly certain that the people in charge are too comfortable to fight as hard as the situation demands. He’s not wrong. But he’s also young enough to mistake urgency for wisdom.
There is something inherently heroic about Jamal – not in a loud or obvious way, but in the kind that people recognize before he does. An emotional openness, quiet strength, and natural charisma that make people want to protect him and use him in equal measure. And that is exactly what makes his position so dangerous.
When we enter the story, Jamal is about to discover that the past he thought was sealed — the death of his parents — is not true. They are alive, but imprisoned. And there is a way to get them back. But the path runs directly through the most dangerous territory Marie has ever asked anyone to enter: a CIA operation, where the price of his parents’ freedom is Jamal’s help. And Jamal will go. Not because he’s reckless, but because he has spent a decade learning to live without the people he loves most, and he is not willing to do it for a single day longer than he has to.
